As part of the #ColombiaSeNota (#ColombiaStandsOut) campaign, in which different public and private sector companies joined forces to take medical and biosafety equipment and food supplies to hospitals and vulnerable population groups in the Department of Amazonas, Colombia, Terpel donated all of the aviation fuel for the first humanitarian flight to one of the population groups most affected by COVID-19.

The flight on May 16 carried close to 10 tons of food products and donations of clinical and biosafety supplies for hospitals, and made possible training sessions for medical personnel with a focus on treating coronavirus patients.

“As a Country Partner, we joined this important initiative to support one of the population groups most affected by the pandemic, the Colombian Amazon region. Through this donation, we demonstrate our commitment to Colombians and to vulnerable population groups,” explained Sylvia Escovar, President of Terpel.

The #ColombiaSeNota campaign is led by Antioquia Presente with the participation of companies such as Terpel, Bancolombia, Viva Air, BQA Consultorías, the SENA, Sociedad de Anestesiología Antioqueña, X Learn, BQA Consultorías, the National Police, Universidad Adventista, Cooperativa de Hospitales de Antioquia, the Port Authority of Urabá and the Wey Group.

These partnerships are part of Terpel’s #JuntosSaldremosAdelante (#GettingThroughThisTogether) campaign that encompasses different initiatives to support communities deeply affected by the pandemic and to contribute to efforts to fight COVID-19 in Colombia.

In recent days the company reported that, after a month of operations to transport and donate food products to the country’s most vulnerable population groups, Organización Terpel and Abaco have benefited more than 1,150,000 Colombians in 18 Departments across the nation, which is double the goal set for the first 30 days of work.

In addition, its Altoque stores are providing hot broth and coffee to go, and providing free showers as a way of thanking the truck drivers who have kept up their hard work to keep the country supplied. The company is also working with the Menu Solidario Movement and Rappi to deliver fast food to vulnerable population groups. For each combo meal donated by Altoque users using the Rappi app, Terpel will donate an additional meal.

With the goal of thanking the country’s taxi and motorcycle drivers who provide delivery services, the company is also handing out combo meals at Altoque stores and free coffee and water, so drivers can recharge their batteries during a pit stop on the way to their destination.

In another program, the company supports the lubricant specialists in the Tesos Terpel and Specialists Club programs with Mobil Lubricants. Lubricant specialists have received a total of 1,600 coupons of three different types: coupons to redeem for money, virtual coupons for groceries, and solidarity coupons for supporting another affiliates who have more pressing needs.

The company also joined the Unidos Somos Más País (Together we are a Greater Country) campaign, promoted by the ANDI, to donate specific resources to the InnspiraMED Initiative. The goal of this initiative is to raise funds to produce 2,000 mechanical ventilators for treating COVID-19 patients.

On its part, the Terpel Foundation designed a plan to help parents reinforce their children’s skills in mathematics, language arts, and leadership, through the educational content on its social media.
